Camper transport in Europe

Shipping your camper in Europe with one of these professional vehicle carriers (the big low-loader trailers or specialized “bisarche” that handle taller rigs) is honestly the easiest way to get it moved without you clocking up extra kilometres or dealing with motorway fatigue. Whether you’re only shifting it a few hundred kilometres to a new spot in your country or sending it across Europe for the season, these setups use custom supports and heavy-duty straps, keeping the cost reasonable instead of those eye-watering private-tow prices.
It’s the go-to for all sorts of everyday situations: relocating house and bringing the family camper along, picking up a second-hand motorhome or campervan you bought online from another country, selling one that’s stored far away, heading south for winter storage, getting it to a specialist workshop for fixes, or just moving fleets if you’re in the rental business without wearing out the tires yourself.

The two main choices

  • Open Transport
Most people go for this because it’s straightforward to book and keeps the price down. Your camper gets loaded onto an open multi-level or low-bed trailer, secured properly with cradles, wheel straps and padding to stop any shifting. It suits standard campervans, motorhomes or caravans up to around 7–8 meters long (just check height and weight, many handle up to 4 meters tall and 5 tonnes of weight). Sure, it’s exposed to the elements like road spray or dust, but these highways see constant runs and the drivers wrap things up well to protect the bodywork.
  • Enclosed Transport
If your camper is kitted out nicely (maybe a luxury motorhome, a custom conversion with fancy interiors, or a classic you’ve restored) enclosed is usually the smarter pick. The whole camper goes inside a closed trailer, either the curtain-side kind or a hard-box one, so it’s totally safe from rain, gravel chips, road salt or any debris. It bumps the price up by around 40 to 80 percent, and on quieter routes you might have to wait a bit longer for a slot, but when you’ve got something valuable, that level of protection is really hard to beat. Door-to-door collection from your driveway or campsite is common, or terminal-to-terminal trims the bill if you can manage the last short drive.

How shipping your camper works

You start with a quick quote. Tell us the usual information: the length, height, width, weight, make and model, whether it runs and drives well or needs to be winched, if it has solar panels or awnings that need to be folded in, the pickup and drop-off spots, and when you want it done.
Make a reservation when you can. One to four weeks notice often scores better deals.
Prep the camper: give it a good going-over by draining all the water tanks (fresh, grey, black) completely, drop the fuel to a bare minimum for safety and weight reasons, take out the gas cylinders (they’re not allowed on board anyway), clear out every personal item and loose gear like fridge contents, cushions, bikes, whatever you’ve got in there (left-behinds aren’t insured) disconnect the battery, fold in the awnings, mirrors and antennas, and snap plenty of timestamped photos from all angles including underneath and inside.
On pickup day the driver (or the crew with a crane if it’s oversized or non-running) goes over it with you, jots down any existing dings on the paperwork, and loads it up carefully.
En route they stick to the main highways, try to dodge bad weather where they can, and we offer 24/7 tracking so you can keep an eye on things.
They ping you before delivery. You check it over against your photos and docs, flag anything fresh before signing.

Advantages of transporting you camper with us

Driving it yourself piles on mileage that hurts resale value, risks new scratches at stops, and leaves you knackered. A carrier skips all that (the camper arrives fresh and you don’t lift a finger). These pros load campers daily with the right gear, so mishaps are rare compared to a rushed “DIY” job.

Insurance and safety side

Carriers have cargo insurance covering accidents or handling errors (limits vary, so ask for the policy details upfront). Anything you forget inside usually isn’t protected, so empty it out fully. Drivers are seasoned, trailers checked regularly, and they secure everything properly, especially for taller or heavier loads.

If you have specific needs

International moves? More forms, possible customs/VAT (carriers often guide you).
Oversized or heavy campers? Standard trailers have limits; some need permits, escorts or special low-loaders (declare dimensions early).
Non-running or damaged? Winch or crane handling is common, with a small extra fee.
Luxury or custom setups? Enclosed prioritizes top spots away from spray; mention solar or extras upfront. Our carrier partners are prepared for any type of request, so there’s no need for worries.

Choose the right transport company

No hidden charges sneaking in, real-time tracking available, and actual humans who pick up the phone for questions. Bottom line, whether it’s your trusty old campervan that’s done family holidays for years, the half-built conversion project in the garage, or that shiny new motorhome you’re proud of, turning it over to a reliable carrier gets it there in one piece, on schedule, and without you white-knuckling the drive for days. It’s simple, it delivers consistently, and it lifts a huge load off your mind.
